Dent corn is intermediate between "flinty" corn and "flour" corn. So-called because the seed develops a "dent" in it when it dries. If you make (emerald green) corn-meal out of this, the flint will give it a "nubbly" texture typical of most American corn-meal. If you have the right equipment, you can also filter the flint out and make polenta out of that.
