Currents and Gooseberries
Gooseberries are just a type of current. Currents are smallish bushy shrubs bearing clusters of small, generally sour berries. Currents bear readily and at a young age, and are one of the few options for growing fruit at very high latitudes where they are an important source of Vitamin C.
Currents are popular in Canada and Europe but are uncommon in North America, partially due to lack of history of growing them, and partially due to restrictions on their cultivation due to concerns about white pine blister rust.
