After Christmas Deals
« on: January 05, 2012, 08:41:13 AM »
Anyone care to discuss the after Christmas deals. I'm finding exceptional deals on things. Am stocking up.  Found holiday paper plates, napkins and cups for only 25 cents a package last night. I got like 40 packages. ( $10.00 worth) Needless to say if the water goes off I'm well stocked and won't have to do dishes.

Also found solar christmas lights 50% off. If the electric goes off they might come in very handy. Found solar candles also, these would be great to sit on the table at night.

Of course found the discounted foods, candy etc,

What are you all finding???

I found polar fleece for $2.39 a yard.  I stocked up enough for many warm garments, blankets, hats and so on.  This time of year the stuff is a great deal.

Good deal on the fleece. I bought some discounted also. Was wondering how hard is it to sew with that much thickness? Do you need to change sewing machine needles to use it??

I used a standard needle but I did have to set the pressure for a high thickness.  Otherwise the fabric would bunch up in front of the presser-foot.    I don't have a serger but I have an overcast stitch that worked pretty well.   This was my first try with fleece and I'm happy enough with it.  I'll be making next year's Christmas gifts over the coming weeks.  Having that stuff done early will free me up to grab seasonal side work.
