I don't like to see anyone die or get hurt. But I totally support what this young Mother did to protect herself and her Son. It was also nice to see she had the support of 911 and EMS services.

I read that the young lady was on with the dispatcher for 21 minutes before she was forced to defend herself. My wife and I wondered where in the world she lived that would take a police officer 21 mintues to respond? When I looked up Blanchard I was surprised to see it outside of Norman, OK.  I certainly hope the City of Blanchard looks into their response times.

Here...

* the dispatcher is unlikely to stay on the line for 21 minutes. I've had them hang up on me when I reported that a man drove into a concrete wall with a car full of passengers, and the car burst into flames. I was not able to even get to the address part--their system figures out where you are calling from, the problem being that I was reporting something that happened some blocks away. Something similar happened to one of our tenants, as a result of which her (MY) front door was kicked open and badly damaged, when she reported an attempted suicide that happened somewhere else!

* the dispatcher here tend to be dumb beyond belief. It is largely makework to create jobs for otherwise unemployables. I've often had a hard time getting a word in edgewise--they don't listen, and you have to repeat yourself over and over again while their patience wears thin.

I appreciate that and I don't either. I hope that TPTB who spy on this site appreciate most of us are pretty mellow, rational, and socially responsible. If someone does get hurt, better the guilty than the innocent. Those who scare innocent victims are putting their own lives in jeopardy.
