Ann Barnhardt thinks so. She has cancelled her clients accounts and sent the money back--says she can't conscientiously continue operating in this dubious context.

Apparently Tyler Durden thinks it was intentional:

Tyler Durden is not one person, but many. It's a group of low-ranking Wall Street insiders all hiding under the same alias as they squeal on their bosses.

This particular author lost $90K. So his thinking might be influenced by his loss. Like Celente, he is probably very angry.

I don't think TPTB want to destroy faith in the system. They need willing victims. My guess is that this chap's perspectives have been colored by winning trades that suddenly died on the vine for him.

I am fearful that beeherder's speculation about the end of futures is spot on.

I’m amazed that there has not been a market consequence to the MFG affair. It’s possible the larger issue of the ongoing collapse in Europe has, so far, masked the importance of this event.

....
I’m amazed that there has not yet been any evidence of money moving out of second tier brokerage accounts. Should we get a confirmation that money is moving, it’s likely that contagion will occur.

Bruce Krasting began this post with an offer to wager a 6 pack of beer that in another month this MFG story will have legs that undercuts markets.

now it is up to $1.2 Billion in segregated client accounts that is unaccounted for instead of just $600 MILLION
