WOW, can't believe this.
« on: October 27, 2008, 05:31:09 PM »
I come home for dinner, I'm on 24hrs duty, and she says, "We need to buy some more guns." I about fall out of my chair. She says that she wants that Glock 19 for herself. I said we'll get two, because my Beretta is bit clunky for concealed carry. She says "I want to go to the range two or three times a week until I can do everything in my sleep." WOW! I have been working on her for 20+ years. I also said a new AK and AR would be good too, so we each have one of those too.  :laughing002:

Thats nice.  Do yourself a favor and stock up on high cap magazines for every weapon you have.   They're probably going to be banned again real soon. They're cheap right now.

Get ammo. I mean all you can possibly afford.

Ammo is nice and I try to keep a couple of thousand rounds on hand for my primary weapons.

My next step is to start reloading.  I've got the bench set up, and am just waiting to fund the machine.

I have a 1100 case of 7.62x39 and 1300 case 5.56mm. 500rds of 9mm. I could us some more. I did the reloading thing for a bit I had a Lee Loadmaster with 5.56, 9mm and .357 Mag. 7.62x39 have steel cases, so no reload. It was cheaper to buy bulk, so I gave it up. The mag thing is a great idea. I have 8 or 9 92FS 15 round mags. and probably 20 AR-15/M-16 30 rd and a few 20 rd. 5 AK mags. If we get those Glocks, I'll buy mucho mags for it.

The venerable surplus store ammo can is still the best way to store ammo too.

Just a heads up. As of this morning, Sportsman's Guide had 7.62x39 wolf ammo on sale for $250 for a case of 1000 rounds. If anybody needs that, now is the time to jump on it.

The only problem I have with my truly obscene amount of ammo is that I know if I have to move it, I'm screwed. It weighs quite a lot.

I think it's more about addiction that any rational thought.  The same guy had a bugout plan and even bought camo for his 2 year old.  I've humped ammo, and just a couple of cans will wear you down quick if you're not in damn good shape.

If you want a test, put 10 loaded mags of .308 in your bag and carry it around for a while.

You gotta love it when that happens!!

I'll second that recommendation, but SG is running a bit high on their price.  Here's a link from Ammoman, his price is $209.00 including S&H.

Also, if you can get a deal on S&H, Aim Surplus has it for $179.50 per 1K.

If anyone is into reloading the 7.62X39, there's a heck of deal that's going to be happening around the first of Nov., here's the link:  http://www.wideners.com/index.cfm

I've used the IMI brass before, and it's quality stuff.  They were having a problem with consistency in the early 80's, but everything that I've used in the last few years has been top notch.

They're also going to be selling the 5.56 brass, as opposed to the .223 brass, so you'll actually be able to load to 55,000 psi instead of the .223 rated 50,000 psi.

Cheaper Than Dirt wants $29.93 to ship to my zip code and I'm not that far away from them. Ammoman is the better deal. They have free shipping.

Wolf is low quality ammo.  It will work ok in weapons with "loose" chambers such as AKs and Rugers, but if you are shooting XDs or ARs, you'll have a lot of stovepipes, FTEs, and FTF.  I've used it, and experienced all of those problems.  It's underpowered as hell, and I definitely wouldn't trust me life to it.
