Hurricane tracking this way
« on: August 31, 2011, 08:52:37 AM »
http://www.stormpulse.com/

If you select the forecast models, most of them put Katia very close to Bermuda in a few days.  Likely as a Cat 3 Hurricane.  Have been watching this storm for a few days and it just keeps on coming this way from +2000 miles ago...

No doubt.  The current consensus of models show it 50 miles off us us.  This will shift daily and be more accurate as the days pass.  By Mon-Tuesday, we'll know clearer what is in store.

Well, two years in a row is tough; and, after last years experience, you will  hopefully know how to better protect more of your properties.

Per my earlier comments, forecasts will shift daily.  Today's shift shows Katia coming between the US and Bermuda, with winds hardly affecting either one.  We'll see what tommorow's forecast brings.  With my guava tree flowering for the second year - last year's sole fruit got eaten by a hurricane called Igor - I could do with getting to taste them.  Alas, I embrace whatever comes...

http://sharkoil.bm/track_current.html  250 miles to our west at 8am tommorow morning.  breezy here.  large waves from the storm have been rolling in for days.  wonderful sights especially during otherwise calm and sunny weather.  even some seaweed piles have come with it which may make for some early harvesting....

The coin landed on our side so far.  137 miles off the island predicted for Thursday 6am.  Projection downgraded to TS vs hurricane though.  Looks like potted plants need to be moved again....

What she means, "wearing", is that year in and year out, from August thru November we are constantly dreading and then monitoring and finally agonizing
over if these hurricanes will come INCREASINGLY CLOSER to our homes.

Everybody that knows hurricanes knows that it takes a direct hit, by an or above CAT II to wipe you out. CAT I will might do it if you are 1 foot above sea level like me.

That being said, many places in the Bahamas and Cuba are struck numerous times a year, and you do have ample warning time , for it to "wear" on you.

Ok.  We are not wearing here.  Very much at peace with it.

You are obviously not a foot above sea level

No.  If I was, a permanent move or else infrastructure to cope with a surge would be a necessity.  If I didn't have the means or opportuni to do either, I would very much be at peace with it!  No sense in losing twice  :happy005:
