------------

What really struck me about the Sudanese family in the camp in Chad is how much fuel would be necessary to render that food digestible.  The other pictures have a lot of meat and veggies and fruit (and already prepared foods).  Those can be eaten raw or barely cooked (ie rare beef).

If the grains/legumes are live, they could be sprouted and rendered digestible.  Low to no energy preparation.

We are not big eaters.
We did our taxes yesterday, and as a reward we went out to dinner at the local restaurant.
They had a special, half a grilled chicken, two side orders and a drink for $6.99.  We got it, and an extra plate and drink.  Dinner out was less than $10.00 and food was leftover.  We chose cole slaw and baked beans as our sides.

I thought that was a really good buy.  The chicken was grilled and pretty good.  So, there are still bargains out there.

We can easily go through 3-4 dozen eggs in a week.
