prayers please!
« on: March 14, 2011, 07:55:29 AM »
just wanted to ask all my friends/family here for your thoughts and prayers. It's been a difficult week. While we were on vacation last week my Wife's neices husband ( Matt) was in a extremely bad accident. He was on his way to work and a School bus driver with her head up her______. Didn't watch where she was going and pulled out of a side road and plowed into Matt's SUV. The wreck was so bad that you couldn't tell what kind of vehicle he was driving and he required being cut out of the vehicle and being LIFE FLIGHTED to the hospital with head trauma,
A ( depressed skull fracture) Broken arm, severly brused ribs, a collapsed lung and multiple contusions and abrasions. Thankfully he is inproving and is past the "danger zone" and should recover okay but has a long road to recovery.

Now compounding that my 83 year old mother has been admitted to the hospital in Madisonville (Ky) 50 miles south of here. Mom has been experiencing declining health the last few years and now lives with my sister and BIL. My sister ( Kathy) thank God for her, doesn't work so she devotes full time taking care of Mom. Well anyway Mom has had open heart surgery, bypass surgery and recently had a pacemaker inplanted. For about a week she had been feeling relly bad and finally agreed Saturday to let Kathy and my BIL ( Richie) take her to the Dr. Her Blood pressure was through the roof. Like 190/130.  They were able finally yesterday to get it stabalized around 130/90. They ruled out the pacemaker as a cause and are still running tests to see what happened and why as well as testing to see if her BP caused any damage. Looks like an extended hospital stay and while she is currently "stable" The Drs; say she's still at risk of recurrance of the "episode" until the find the why.

So while I know eveyone here is really busy, I my wife Barbara, Kathy, and Richie would appreciate any prayer you can send Mom and Barbara, myself, and Matt's family will appreciate any prayers you can send Matt.

Thank and bless you all.   Don

These people in your life have experienced so much suffering; just reading your description made my heart heavy in my chest. It must be hard for you to bear but I am glad that at least they have someone to care so that they don't have to face it alone.  :hug005: I'm also glad they both got help.

They're in our thoughts and prayers, along with those who are caring for them, and their loved ones too.

Please keep us posted as to the situation.

Thank you Atash and everyone else. Your thoughts and prayers are greatly appreciated.  While their situations are bad thankfully they are not worse. Support of great family like I have here is a great help.   Don

UPDATE  :gen002: Mom is doing a lot better. She got to come home this weekend and for 82 is doing good. They still don't know why her BP spiked like it did but she seems to be suffering no ill effects from it.

Matt is also doing great. He is improving daily both physically and mentally. Still doesn't remember the wreck but that's okay.  The Drs finally let him see his 3 kids over the weekend and he was delighted. His PT is going great and he is walking more each day mostly on his own. The only "bad" side remaining is his head injury. There was some mis information as to that he did NOT have a "depressed skull fracture" but instead his sinus's were crushed so he still faces that surgery in a week of so. But the Dr's say that it should not cause any big problem there.

So all in all they are doing well..... both families and I wanted to tell you all again.  Thank you for your loving support, prayers and messages. We hope you are all richly blessed in return and that each and every one of you "recieve an xtra jewel in your crown" when the time comes to cross from this life to the next.

MAY GOD BLESS ALL OF YOU   Don

That is a great victory report!

Thank you for giving us the opportunity, the generic prayers are sometimes a bit difficult, much better when you can site in on a need!

LATEST NEWS!! Matt has been released from the hospital. While he still has sinus surgery to go through when the sweeling is down. As well as lots of out patient PT yet. The doctors decided that since his wife ( Tonya) is a trauma nurse she could take care of him at home as well as they could in the hospital and Matt would be a lot more comfortable.. The only thing is that Matt being as he is he asked the Dr. if going home meant he could go back to work next week?? He was quickly told No and he had better not try to do anything until they tell him he can.
