Knot weed
« on: November 09, 2010, 07:27:55 PM »
My aunt was sharing some family history with me over the weekend and apparently when my Grandfather was a boy he accompanied his Grandfather to the aboriginal communities in Montana where he learned some of the medicinal properties of native plants.

More directly, I am told that the juice of a freshly picked knot weed will remove warts quickly.

Ryder, do you know what knot weed is in Montana and do you have a link to a picture or a picture you could post so I would know what I am looking for.  I have discovered that common names are applied to a variety of different plants according to location.

Checked out the link and I doubt that the Japaneese variety would have been in common use for medicinal purposes by the Amerinds in the 1880's or 90's.

My aunt says they found some here about 1920-25 which is when she recalls having been shown what it was and how to use it.

Is it high in salicylates?  Most wart removers are basically salicylates.

There are a lot of foods and herbs that are also high in them, and I wonder if it would be easy enough to concentrate any of those into a wart remover.
