Four banks down this Friday in Maryland, California and Washington.  Total is now 143 banks and has passed the total banks closed in 2009.  Now that the election is over, it's actually being reported by the AP.

   Buckle up!

More than last year?!

That is bad!  I guess the green shoots weren't strong enough to support all banks....

I've lost track. How many total banks are dead and gone as of now?

That is 146 banks so far this year.  I believe Urban Survival had the total branch count including this weeks at ~1146.

More banks failing....is this the commercial buisness lending side of things defaulting. I hear  that there will be more failures of buisnesses than the crazy home loan buisness. How do you rate "urban survival" site. He says today nov 14 is a tipping point? I'm feeling a little tipsy, does that count? :rolf:

None of this is surprising or unexpected. I think part of the scheme was to consolidate the banking industry. Investment banks would get bailouts, while small commercial banks would either be swallowed up by big banks, or at least they would be shut down.

Friday, November 19th.  Three more banks marched to the wall.  First Banking Center of WI, Gulf State Community Bank in FL, and one here in PA, Allegiance Bank of North America.

Total banks for 2010 = 149.  Twenty seven branches this week.

Atash,
I remember some time ago you posted a link to a page that shows the "Texas Ratio" which is a guage of the health of a bank. Do you have that link handy?
