Orange County Sherrif revoking concealed permits

Washington has a mandatory approval process, within a set time-frame, as long as you're not prohibited from concealed carry (eg, a felon). I don't know about California--probably depends on jurisdiction. Article sounds like the permits are becoming more restrictive.

Anybody who wants to get a CCW should do so in Utah. Utah is a shall issue state. It doesn't matter if you are not from Utah. They will still issue you a permit and Utah has formal reciprocity with more states than any other state. Go to www.handgunlaw.us and you can get national maps of where your license is valid an where it isn't. Utah only costs $60.00 for the class and then you send another $67.50 to the Utah Bureau of Identification (Utah's equivalent of the FBI), wait 2 months and you have your license.

California and Oregon are - for all practical purposes - communist states at this point. Don't even bother trying to get a CCW there, and don't drive through there if you do have a CCW, even if you don't have your gun with you when you travel, the mere fact that you do have a CCW at all subjects you to greater danger from the police.

The only way to get a CCW in Orange County California is to know someone - hence the problems with Sheriff Corona.  He gave them out to his friends.  It's easier to get one in LA County if you can believe that.

I can believe that, because I know that local policies can vary--and policies can get as local as one person.

One thing I would like to do, is to have some information somewhere (probably both posted here, and on my wiki, when my host lets me put it back up), for people who live in gun-control, and more generally, weapon-control jurisdictions. The problem gets to be when you run out of options, like in South Africa where the government tries not only to take away defensive weapons, but any means of defense such as walls and gates.

Why would I want the people orchestrating all of this to know what I have? Those will be the first people whose doors are darkened by the powers that be to confiscate them in a "situation." If I am truly free, and I know my intentions for possessing firearms are pure (well as pure as the perceived need for a weapon could ever be) I certainly feel no compulsion to notify an organization so hopelessly corrupt that they are IMHO criminals as to what arsenal (if any) I have. Just a thought.

Andrew, you live in a place where you are allowed, under current laws, to have a firearm without registering it.  Here in the 5 boroughs, I would need to go to the police station and sign my name on a form to request an application, then I would have to fill out the application, and if I am approved, in 6 months I can have a license to possess a firearm in my home.  Then I am supposed to register each individual one.  If I get caught with one otherwise, I would be in big trouble.

I am only allowed to posses long guns under the current law. And of course I have to show photo ID at the time of purchase. But I'm just saying, long guns are not always prudent for home/ self defense and if an intruder takes two or three rounds in the head from a .40 cal. H&K, that was HIS gun. There was a struggle and it accidentally discharged. Prove otherwise. (Nice talking to ya Leigh!)
