I think Tyler Durden at ZeroHedge started the speculation about British purchases of US federal debt being a ruse to hide monetization, so I will mention him to give due credit.

"Household expenses" is another possible smoking gun for secret monetization.

I guess there aren't any symptoms so long as it's "surreptitious." Trouble is, people already know about it and word is spreading despite best efforts by media to ignore it.
