At first she confessed to the crime AND her motive (covering up another crime)...but later her lawyers came up with the abuse excuse and she made up some cock and bull story about him forcing her to dress like a slut and "do things" (never specified) she "felt uncomfortable doing". Now it's "years of abuse".
Her daughter testified against her, said she never saw any abuse, and that "Daddy was a good man".
For those who don't know...she shot her husband about 2 hours before they were due to show up at a local bank to talk about a bank fraud scheme that she had participated in. He got the call from the bank that morning, which was when he first learned his wife was a crook, and was dead that afternoon. None of these facts showed up on the national media (though a few small independent news sources told the truth which is how I know).
As he lay bleeding to death she ripped out the phone so he couldn't call for help.
She then went on a vacation to the coast.
The reason outrages like this happen, is because the courts are motivated to deal with high-profile cases according to what political or social objectives they can get out of it. In this case, they scored a major libelous smear against a popular Christian pastor and created the illusion of a social problem by blaming the victim.
In the OJ Simpson case, they protected a so-called "sports hero" they considered as an important asset as a role model (!!).
