Note the insistence that it's the victim's fault. On the one hand, the police don't want you do defend yourself. On the other, they don't care if you are victimized.

I do not believe the insinuations in this article. Police stopped coming in Seattle for most property crimes generations ago. WE COULD NOT GET THEM TO TAKE A REPORT FOR A STOLEN VEHICLE. The only thing they will do about it is fine the OWNER if the remains of the stripped down car are abandoned on the side of the road. We were fined $200/day, and they didn't inform us of our car's impoundment until it was too late to avoid another day's fine.
