Currently restoring the wiki
« on: July 02, 2009, 03:03:30 PM »
My main website is a wiki. The main page kept going down due to a bug. I dunno if the bug has been fixed, but in any case I have upgraded the version. Because the upgrader didn't work, I gave up and deleted the database and the site and am currently slowly restoring functionality. The old wiki pages are there; what is missing is some navigation to GET you to those pages. That will show up over the next few days.

The wiki is at

www.mutuallyassuredsurvival.com

It should redirect you to the right place automatically.

I don't know much about computers. Do you have a snapshot of the forums in case these go down? It would be a shame to lose all the past posts. I doubt we could ever reproduce the information on here from memory.

Sigh. The wiki is backed up but the forums are not. However, I could have a look at the command that backs up the wiki, and back up the forum database the same way.

It's hard to do website maintenance, on a computer whose connection to the internet keeps going down.  :angry020:

Do you think it will be easier to upload the files I have been trying to upload?  I am going out of town today, but maybe next week I will try again.

Good question, Bud. They redesigned a lot of stuff, broke a few things that used to work, etc. Whole new ballgame! Laugh. That is what happens when software is designed and implemented by volunteers.

I'll have a look and get back to you. Remind me if I forget. Lots on my mind lately due to baby daughter.

Restoring the wiki is turning into a lot of work. They added features, many of which don't really work, and subtracted some that did, but now don't.

I have references to plugins that were removed, as a result of which, my wiki articles no longer format correctly. In some cases they did it because they came up with new ways of doing things, but they should have kept the old plugins for compatibility.  :angry020:
