I just noticed that earlier in this thread I said I had planted to ficifolia starts under my old Apricot tree on June 5.  That's two months ago, and the plants are already climbing into the tree with not only flowers, but a couple of fruits.  Should be enough time to for the fruits to mature.  AND . . . the one I cut back completely is sprouting vigorously starting to climb back up the arbor.

Update~

The malabar gourd I cut back completely around the end of July fully covered my arbor within three months.
As the days got shorter, it produced heaps of flowers and eventually set two fruits that are now about 12" long and maybe near ten pounds each.  I'll store one and eat the other and save the seeds.  Who would like seeds?
