We were forced to submit to numerous invasive interview and screening procedures.

"For the good of the baby" they were asking all sorts of personal question, including obviously financial questions.

The hospitals coordinate this intrusion with the state, and the hospitals are not very good at scheduling, so we were "held prisoner". They had an alarm triggered if we tried to remove OUR OWN BABY without their permission.

Congrats.  The alarms are mainly to prevent babies being stolen.  Lawsuits you know.

Well, babies do get stolen...and I know of one case where the doctor himself pulled the switch!

But they wouldn't discharge us--and take the anti-theft device off the baby--until the paperwork and screenings were finished.
