I am suspicious that this is a red herring.

I doubt that she had an "affair" with Condit, for the same reason that I doubt that Senator Maria Cantwell ever had an affair with Ron Dotzauer (or any other man...). It would be out-of-character. Although he has been known to date women, at least one of them, Anne Marie Smith, got on national television and talked about finding twisted-up neckties under his bed.

This supports allegations made by John LeBoutiller, but later pulled from publication. I suspect that Mr. LeBoutiller embellished his claims in an attempt to tie Mr. Condit to the murder.

It is worth noting that Ms. Levy was strangled, whereas other women attacked by Senior Gandique were attacked at knifepoint. Gandique was tied to the murder through a "jailhouse informant".

Gandique sounds like a monster, but I have my doubts about what someone might be trying to accomplish by tying him to the crime.
