Hey, sweejak here. I spend a lot of time on forums, too much really. Been very busy following the Georgia situation.

Here are some of my online photos.

Welcome back. I had a look at the pix but could not view the "My place" because it doesn't like the browser I am using at the moment.

Most of us are aware of what happened between Georgia, Ossetia, and Russia. At this time there is little NATO can do about it, except for spread propaganda, due to Russia holding a lot of US debt, and controlling a lot of oil. As a result of the situation, a pipeline that had been planned to carry natural gas from Azerbaijan through Turkey ultimately to Austria, is unlikely to be built, as the financial backing has probably been intimidated.

I suggest now watching events in Pakistan and Afghanistan.

Konqueror. It's a KDE browser. It's a little funky but it does the job and some of its helper programs seem to work better than alternatives. For example, it reads PDF files that a lot of other PDF readers error out on.

I have Firefox installed, so I'll take another look. I couldn't at the time, because every once in a while Firefox crashes and then can't load anymore.

BTW, in case it's not obvious, have a look at some of my more esoteric forums. We do a little less blabbering than on some forums, and a little more strategizing.

The strategizing is based on the premise that you win a war of attrition by surviving. The whole reason for the wars in Central Asia is over petroleum reserves; the superpowers are grabbing what they can because Hubbert's Peak has probably already come and gone--probably circa the year 2006.

So I suggest ignoring media distractions. Personally, I am not excited about either party convention, as neither of them is relevent to accomplishing my personal objectives.

Some of our ongoing conversations should start getting quite interesting soon.

If you haven't been following the banking situation, I suggest having a look. It is more serious than most people realize. I have started moving my assets out of a bank that will probably be shut down before the end of the year.

I'd hardly call the war in Georgia a media distraction, but would call the convention that.
I've pulled major chunks of money out of the bank, credit union actually, and still use Bullion Vault and GoldMoney.

Did the whole Liberty Dollar mess hurt you, Sweejak?

No, but I did join the class action suit.
The truth is that the silver is even in more demand with the extra street cred of having been attacked by the FBI. I've seen it on eBay going for over 80$.
I will say that I don't use it as 'currency' anymore 'out there', but still trade with friends and the like minded.

You know, I just realized my avatar is wearing a Budenny hat, with a red star. Well, just consider it a captured enemy goods.
